Limestone Cypro-Egyptian

Bust-length limestone sculpture of a figure in a close-fitting cap, one arm across the chest, gripping a fluted upright object — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, Csn0499. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A bust-length limestone figure wears a close-fitting cap with side flaps over the ears, with wide almond-shaped eyes and a faint smile. One arm is folded across the bare chest, and the hand grips a tall fluted object with a carved top at the right edge. The surface is worn, the nose is chipped, and traces of yellow paint show on the left shoulder, with a number label at the base against a grey backdrop.
