Limestone Cypro-Greek I Kition III, Kition III B

Limestone head from Kition with lowered eyes and a banded headdress — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C08607. Public domain (CC0).

Description

Carved stone head shown in three-quarter view against a grey backdrop. Wide horizontal bands cover the top and back of the head, and the eyelids are lowered above a straight nose and a small, full-lipped mouth. The rough, pitted surface shows wear, and the image is mounted on a card with a pale border.
