Limestone Cypro-Greek I Kition III

Limestone sculpture head and shoulders from Kition, with a carved leaf-patterned headdress and downcast eyes — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C06341. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A close view of a limestone statue head and upper torso, with the eyes downcast and the mouth set in a slight smile. The headdress has a band of ridged, fan-like carving below a row of leaf or petal shapes. A white painted line runs around the neck, and the shoulders and chest fill the lower part of the frame against a plain grey backdrop.
