Terracotta Minor Plastic 3, statuette (A.I.109)

Terracotta statuette of a standing figure holding a round shield across its body, from Ayia Irini — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C06103a. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A pale terracotta figure stands upright with a close-fitting head covering and a modelled face with eyes, nose and a full chin. One arm bends across the chest and holds a broad, round shield against the body. The figure's long, slightly tapering body widens into a flat base, and it is photographed straight on against a plain grey backdrop.
