Limestone Neo-Cypriote head seen from the front, with carved eyes, nose and mouth and traces of blue paint — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04831. Public domain (CC0).

Description

Frontal view of a carved limestone head with a cap or band over the hair, heavy-lidded almond eyes, a broad nose and a small closed mouth. Locks of hair curl beside the ears, and a row of rounded forms runs along the lower neck. Patches of blue paint survive on the cap, cheeks and chin, and the head sits on a plain stone block.
