Glyptic (A.I.1148)

Engraved stone seal or gem from Ayia Irini, photographed on a pale card. — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04410j. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A small oval engraved seal of stone, photographed face-up on a pale card. The carved design fills most of the face: on the left a cluster of raised, curving lines and a coiled spiral, on the right a smooth, darker area bordered by a carved line. The edges look slightly worn and the surface shows some chips.
