Glyptic (A.I.2728)

Engraved oval seal or gem in stone, from Ayia Irini, shown on a pale card mount — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04410a. Public domain (CC0).

Description

An oval object with a rounded outline and a small projection at its left edge fills most of the frame, photographed on a pale card with a narrow border. Its surface carries engraved lines, including a vertical stroke at the top, a zigzag line running down the right side and an angular shape in the centre. The design is hard to read because the photograph is soft and the grooves show as dark shadows.
