Glyptic, A.I.2427 Ayia Irini 3

Oval seal or gem from Ayia Irini, photographed on a white card mount above handwritten numbers — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04349a. Public domain (CC0).

Description

An oval stone seal or gem fills the centre of a white card, shown in a close view with its worn surface covering most of the frame. Dark incised marks run across it, including a deep vertical groove and a dark patch on one side, but the design is hard to make out. Handwritten number labels in dark ink sit on the cream card below the photograph.
