Glyptic (A.I.2616)

Oval seal or gem with incised diagonal lines, from Ayia Irini — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04341b. Public domain (CC0).

Description

An oval object with a rough, pitted surface and deep incised lines running diagonally across it fills most of the photograph. The print is grey-toned, soft and low in contrast, so the finer engraving is hard to make out. The card mount's edges are flaked and damaged, and handwriting is visible along the bottom edge.
