Glyptic (A.I.2238)

Glyptic find: an oval stone object with dark grooves across its surface, photographed on a grey ground — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C04079r. Public domain (CC0).

Description

An oval object fills most of the frame, with a pale, rough-textured surface crossed by several deep, dark grooves or recesses. The darker rim along the right edge and lower side suggests the outline of the object. The print is soft-focused and sits on a grey card mount with a cream border.
