Glyptic (A.i.2684)

Blurred close photograph of a round seal or gem from Ayia Irini, with vertical grooves across its face — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C03880a. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A round, slightly oval object photographed close up on a plain grey backdrop, filling most of the frame. Its face shows several raised vertical ridges or grooves running from top to bottom, with an uneven outline and a small chipped area at the lower edge. The photograph is soft and low in contrast, so fine surface detail is hard to make out.
