Limestone Neo-Cypriote

Limestone head sculpture seen from the front, with a flat-topped headdress and side locks — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C03486. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A carved limestone head seen straight on, with a flat-topped headdress above a broad brow, heavy-lidded eyes, a straight nose and a closed mouth. Side locks fall beside the cheeks, and the base of the neck fades into a pale backdrop. Pale patches of a light material lie on the brow and beside the nose, and the photograph is mounted on a grey card with a border.
