Limestone head of a figure wearing a grooved headdress, with downcast eyes and a slight smile — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C02876. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A carved limestone head with a rounded face, heavy lidded eyes, a broad nose and a small smile, set in a thick headdress with grooved, ridged bands. The neck is cut off flat at the base, and the granular, weathered stone shows small pits across the surface. It is photographed head-on against a plain light background, standing on a glossy white-based support.
