Limestone head statue fragment from Kition with a tall pointed headdress and a slight smile — Photograph: Swedish Cyprus Expedition, 1927–31. Medelhavsmuseet, Stockholm, C02858. Public domain (CC0).

Description

A carved limestone head with a tall, pointed headdress above a smooth brow, wide eyes with heavy lids, a straight nose and a small, curved mouth that gives a slight smile. The neck ends in a broken edge, and the granular surface is worn. It is photographed alone against a plain pale backdrop, with its shadow falling below.
