Attic lekanis by the Polos Painter, an import in pink clay with very fine mica inclusions and no slip, black gloss with matt red paint highlights and incisions. Reconstructed from fragments and incomplete: only the handle attachments, framed by two vertical knobs, survive, and one figure is preserved intact, a sphinx with wings curved forward; there is no ridge for the lid. Diameter (without handles) 16.2 cm; foot diameter 6.2 cm; wall thickness 0.5 cm; H. 5.7 cm; Salamis, area south of the Rampart, square K VI/γ4 (west); inventory V_0767; September 1969.
