Object card: 1967. Mission archéologique française de Kition-Salamine (MOM, Lyon), Nakala, SAL_1845. "Terracotta head of the Great Goddess with calathos, Salamis". CC BY 4.0. Resized.
Object card for a terracotta head with a calathos, of the Classical period, found in the area south of the rampart at Salamis, square K VI/δ3. Inventory Tc_0459; 30 March 1967. The head is incomplete, lacking the back, with a straight nose, marked brow ridge, large round eyes that are very worn, thick lips, wavy puffed hair, and a closed mouth with raised corners, perhaps suggesting a smile. The calathos is open, 10.5 cm high, moulded hollow, with a trace of red paint at the straight rim and probably painted red overall; the buff fabric is very worn at the top.
