Terracotta figurine of goddess with deer, Salamis

Fragment of the lower left edge of a terracotta statuette of the goddess with a deer, showing forearm and hand, and the head and neck of the animal, without its hindquarters; pink fabric with cream slip; traces of red paint on the wrist; moulded hollow; H. 10.1 cm, l. 6.7 cm. The goddess's palm rests on the thigh (?) of the deer, her long flat fingers, the little finger poorly separated, folded over the deer's horns, partly concealing it; the drapery forms long folds down to the wrist, and two oblique tunic folds in the opposite direction appear above the deer's head; the fine head has a distinct eye, a wide slit mouth, pendent ears and upright horns; the arm, of which only the forearm is visible, hung along the body. Salamis, south of the rampart, Square K VI/δ3, Classical period, 28 March 1967. Inventory Tc_0401; similar deer position to Sal_4063.

Le bras, dont on ne voit que l'avant, pendait le long du corps Fragment de bord inférieur gauche de statuette, avec avant-bras et main, tête et cou d'animal, sans l'arrière. Pâte rose vif et engobe crème l. 6,7. Même position de la biche que sur Sal_4063 on aperçoit deux plis de tunique, obliques aussi mais en sens inverse, au-dessus de la tête de la biche.
