27 Trench 2 cont. M. The high rock, here much broken away, continues to slant in at a less defined curve - at the S end it extends W 1,70. All the In the space left, at the N end and flush with the rock, is the cut stone mentioned above; it holds back (ie >) the bed of wall χαβάρα, plastered, which slopes up to a depth of only 25 cm below surface. M' The black earth extends 25-30 cm to red earth filled with small stones, not yet removed. The stones of a wall line begin in the SW corner, and E of them are large fallen stones, best 1 for now in situ. N: Almost completely filled by the bedrock, which is here and there broken and very irregular. In one side (W) is a hole filled with red earth (b). The cutting of the rock stops at about 50 cm. within N. N': This contained a stratum of small χαβάρα on its E side, which has been removed. Below it, partially buried in red earth, are various fallen stones. On the out side is block 1, bedrock squarely cut, with a fine-picked trimming on face a (E). The next block (2) is smaller, half 3/4 the depth width (W) and cemented, both above & to E, which appears to be several stones bound by cement. It is against heavy block, protruding beyond the end of [greek: Ξ']; its S face has not to yet been cleared. [greek: Ξ] Here the upper surface of the bed-rock (c. 30 cm. down) in the NE corner is artificial by a plaster coated χαβάρα filling.
