DIARY 2540 [margin left: Portico opposite room 5] with what appears to have been the stylobate of an earlier, S. Building, just south of the stylobate of the S. Bldg. portico. The edge of the floors in many places turn up on to these structures and on to the early stylobate. The. early stylobate is higher than the floor and was therefore presumably covered by a later floor (paved) which has disappeared in this area. Coin F 1607 comes also from 2541-1. and lamp frags - 2 small pieces F1608. The structures which interrupt floor on s. side appear to go under north wall of S. Bldg. Floor on other side of structures here (within room 5) is contemporaneous with structure which was dismantled down to its foundation to lay paved floor of room 5. - The early floor within room 5 in many places turns up on to structures foundation and on to wall immediately opposite.
