From p. 98 Block b (plan p.98) - top - 305, tipped down N. c 45° lies ca parallel with W. wall. See no perfectly worked surface but that now up & Nmes do greater wall in face of rubble wall due to be cleaned plasterd length ca 59 (S-N thickness .29 E up, visible W up also .29 but goes in into earth Block c is a slab 37 x 23 x 07 sloping SW c 40° SW edge agst block b. Under it a thin tile frag inclined same direction a little more steeply. Bottom of c very rough but parallel with top a little earth between it & the tile. Tile is actually 2 frgs. of a pan tile together ca 32 x 27 Lower edge at c - .65 32 the frag. from a thinner pan 20 x 08 x 012/13. The larger tile has a good heavy rim & thickened side. Rim .04 wide, thickness there .04; at side c .03 in middle .012. Was built into wall usd. with heavy rim (drawing) to front (W) Under its S part was a triangular frag. of same tile (17 x 12) Block b lighter out shows in earth main slope of under side toward NW, its SW-NE length being .50 & NW-SW maximum .45 thickness toward SSE c .28. In the wall c mm I think under its N part with the tiles between cod. a & b thrown a good deal out of reasonable relation but c & the tiles would belong them ok NW under corner of b .75 fm gate wall & 30 fm W of a .95 fm N (gate wall) & 10 fm W

Another & a little to W was a much larger piece (2 in sketch Underneath are several frgs of plaster some horizontal some vertical, both usd & rough at level - 72 to - 78, looking as if they were in the wall rather than on either face. But they lie most of the limit of sure orderly fall. If they were in the wall they must be evidence of rebuildings of this part of it.

Continue to find small pcs of painted plaster in confusion. These tiles seem certainly to go with others to N.E. of them - 44 to - 58 of wh at least the NE ones lie on the lower half of the fallen wall, i.e there is ca 0.25 of the wall under them in presumably good order. Did the wall here get badly broken up & inner part disappear to let the large tile frgs. fall in such part as we found them. This seems as doubtful as use of these large tile frgs. in making the wall
