There are stones over the whole area, but very roughly thrown in, varying .20 in top level, not forming a [illegible] cobbled surface, varying in size from .30 to quite small lots - sk-thrown in s . In foundation of floor? Taking them out, more below, into whitish dirt. See Lot [boxed: 26] p. 193 Remove the stony layer. Few sherds. Fairly even level underneath, rising a little toward W and Wall B. Have left some [circled: 4] E of Wall B on N scarp of Trench 75 because not necessary to cut now, and might be useful to show relation level of stony layer and top of Wall B. Also N end of new trench which was unnecessarily long (cut by Christo). Bit of blue blown glass near surface of stratum 3, some .45 above top of Wall C. (with sherds).
<See sketch on opposite page.> Observation: The fill beyond Wall C [circled: 1] does not responding show any line of stratification at the number on level of C's top. Same stony fill over sketch opp., it and beside it. Have not cut down far in trimming <scarp?> because expect here this torrent fill rock, the side of the well shaft. at (drawing) .23 to .30 + above Wall C.
