P.185, [12] <u>Sherds</u> "Ticket written 24/VI/41" Trench <u>43/75</u> loose fill in dromos: <u>Port-Hell</u>.? basering frag. ^\ red: P 1609 /which joins to another found in [margin left: *no other sherds to go there base of a plain-ware Egyptian? perhaps Perdia (early 3rd BC) ] McF's sherds from Trench 43, see above p. 74, <u>item 6</u>. (<u>Imported?</u>). <u>Casseroles</u> were much like in Lot 7, 8 (pots with short flaring necks, vertical handle to simple rim; frags of a saucer with banded in carinated center; turned-down Delosian-type rim of saucer; Frags. of heavyish native coarse ware, including a handler with a round hole in it. Importheavy plain ware includes some Perdia, a Therion(?) toe (much chipped; the clay is coarse-sand as well as micaceous, red is-buff core, a light slip) another toe shaped like a native one in Lot 8 - see p.127 - but seems imported (red clay rather porous with dark bits, creamy slip on rough surf.) The lot includes also perforated frag. of dish loomweight of coarse ware, the feet of 2 frag. unguentaria of coarse ware (early types?). Also some <u>archaic</u>? frags. both cypriot painted and 1 or 2 frags of a large open vessel (krater?) of attic fabric prob. (the inside is covered with matt brown). (info match a frag. fr. <u>Lot IV</u> McF Tr. 43.) 1/XII/41 also bit of lip of pottery alabastron.

In the dromos of Tomb 9, loose fill cleared away, leaving torrent-fill rock on the SW side, except that the half near Wall C, the upper part shows a surface of firm earth, not rock*. at the outside end of the dromos, distinguish below the loose fill a different lighter weirter fill cleared in a slope toward the door. this earth being put in a section drawing of the dromos. Chopped up a bit at botto. Christo says it is same as fill ^13 1 near floor previously cleared and a sample kept below

Several words unreadable

* corresponding with cutting ^down away of rock on the other side of the dromos of Tomb 9, presumably has to do with Wall C bordering. If Wall C was later than dromos, would explain why dromos not distinguished at high level at its outside end, in Tr. 43/75 proper.
