We sailed first to Haifa, and drove from there to Jerusalem, visiting on the way Megiddo (including pottery etc. in workrooms) and Sebastiya- Samaria. From Jerusalem we visited Jericho, including the ancient site excavated by Garstang, and the Dead Sea; and on another day Bethlehem. In Jerusalem we made several visits to the new museum, assisted and shown about by Mr. Iliffe, who also took us out on the Mount of Olives and showed us the site of the most ancient part of the city, near the only spring. We called at the Am. Sch. of Oriental Research, and left a photograph of Lapithos 1931 Tomb 5 no. 16 with Dr. Glueck for comment by Dr. Fisher. Sailed from Jaffa to Beirut. Visited there the Univ. Museum and the new museum, content of which very little visible. Entertained by M. Seyrig.

Glass: neither in Jerusalem nor in Beirut saw anything like our colored flasks, in fact nothing of alabastron shape. But in Jerusalem a ribbed bowl, Megarian shape (no context thereon). Strigil w. handle like ours in Jerusalem.

Further study of the radius & ulna left (see p. 31) makes them appear to be placed with wrist E (toward back of tomb): ends of bones crushed and incomplete, but seem to recognize the bicipital tuberosity (ulna) toward W end, toward BIG NAIL. Attempt below to draw these bones indicating the bic. tub. (?) Asterisk N W of BIG NAIL places some fragments of silver (?) [strikethrough]found[/strikethrough] there at ca. level crwb. where The 2 bones lie (their E end raised sl. on a stone).

Drawing: bones with measurements and labels; labels: .93, .93, [illegible], .96, .97, .97, N, .99, * 1.000, 1.000, CARBON, W

Near other end, a lump of carbon indicated. This rests at a level .02 or .03 below top of stone where E ends of bones rest.

Worm holes winds off Northish from these bones, as near or among other groups of bones in this tomb.
