2MMMM31 (24/V/40) a fragment lying in about the right position but about .05 lower, in connection almost with one clavicle and scapula set. (Association of the 2 frags. pointed out by Achmet; walk seems to be right, in association to huge bone under the set to "5" of center line). This arm rested on the remains of another, of which the radius & ulna are clear. This superposition would seem to indicate a different person. But pieces S of center line do not seem to require more than the one individual, and N of the line, aside from the humerus, only small frags. in disorder lying at about same relation to floor (in a patch beginning .18 from nail) Some of gold #9 was associated with these bones, but under main part of the gold no bones turned up. Bone referred to in margin of p. 29 pronounced by BHH definitely not human.

Made test excavation below floor in NE corner, and find in fact more bones at a distinctly lower level (.05 or .06 below this floor as sworn to by Achmet - says

BHH superintends removal of skull beast. Says frags. of egg at W end indicate it was at least as big as a hen's egg.

Burial IIIBurial IV(written after return) Below these bones found gold object #67, level 1.00 below nail. Drawn on sheet with drawing of beast, but separately, to avoid confusion. Presumably to be referred to burial no. 4, p. 9. Bone frags with it, & bluish matter Remains of silver? Work continued until 6:00 PM, so that the gold could be drawn and removed before my departure on crisis. By end of day, bones described p. 30 etc. removed leaving behind the radius & ulna on which bones of other arm rested (see p. 31), and the bits to N of center line. But later reflection (in berth in "Samothrace") suggest probably all one person, this radius & ulna to be associated with humerus lying crosswise - disarrangement before complete dissolution.
