Might not Gamma have been unroofed to balance Alpha, and let light into room west of large v. p. 5 vol. Room Beta The south of north wall room goes in style more with second period than with first third. North north wall goes more with third - more pr. of tiles for one thing.

Note it seems doubtful that the cutting in third layer on east side is really for wall but rather that it has some connection with the door sill, v. p. 15. In any case this cuttining will have to be envestigated

From page 140, in Room Gamma the flagging with its foundations is necessary to cover the socle or older part part of wall The fourth layer goes with older wall. The north of wall of Room Gamma and south of Beta is laid on this fourth layer. v. p. 141

Line of wall, west wall of large room. In north and south trenches west of large, west wall the third layer lying directly under the second layer which second layer must be part of the general bath construction, is cut. v. p. 12 v. p. 13 vol. IX, + p. 64 + 68 whereas in the trench west of SW3 the fourth layer - the second and third layers are fill for the mosaic - is not cut on east. It seems to have a hard surface and to come just below door jamb in west east wall. v. p. 129, p, 133 vol VIII From this evidence, one might suppose that the line of the east wall of west mosaic room provided the direction for the west wall of large room, and a place of junction should be sought for between the two walls. Certainly any door jamb \here would be impossible in the bath period, and any door would have to have a floor.

In the room west of large north trench the cutting shown p. 55 vol. IX is the probably the continuation of the setting for the pipe and not a cutting for the wall. Check this. For cutting third layer v. p. 64 + p. 68, vol. IX
