The upper surface of the foundations has been exposed where the stylobate blocks are missing along the east colonnade for a distance of m. Here the lower foundations are seen to be 0.75 wide and the upper 0.65, the width of the upper being only slightly more than sufficient to accomodate the width of the stylobate blocks (0.62-0.63)
Stylobate The thickness of the blocks varies to some extent. Where this can be ascertained it is seen that most of the blocks are ca 0.20 - 0.22 thick, while one on the south colonnade is 0.30. No block has been lifted but in many cases it appears from the side view that the bottoms of the blocks were left rough - possibly an intentional and practical device to provide better purchase between the blocks and their foundations.
The width of the blocks preserved is on the other hand quite consistently close to 0.62 and though many are badly weathered and worn it is seen that the sides, joints & top surfaces were probably all carefully cut originally

The lengths of the blocks are markedly inconstant, and in this respect they seem to have been laid without the slightest thought to the colonnade & superstructure they were to carry.
