20:15 b June 23, 1954 at the south side is a small doorway blocked up with stones of small size. (see note on p. 132)

June 24, 1954

Clear south half to -1.08 freeing completely the "stoma". There is no real surface at this level though a considerable number of stones, mostly medium to small size, lie about. Since no bones or complete pots were found in braxos cutting in the north half, clear away the roof in order to clean the sides thoroughly in the hope of finding side chambers. Water-damaged condition of painted sherds from main chamber suggests frequent flooding. Change sherds at -1.08 in south.

Clear, a large sector of main chamber below door to bedrock at - 2.20 m. Sherds, mostly of pithoi, and stones continued to be found almost to the bottom. In spite of the fact that no bones were found it is impossible to doubt that this was originally a tomb. Abandon without clearing completely.
