The 8.08 level was somewhat confused. The original surface, apparently a floor, consisted of clayey, white earth (with chavara). In places this level was missing. The white 8.08 level stops at 8.12 with a consistent sandy level with a great deal of ash. The footing trench for Wall II contains loose ash at this level.

8.5.39 Remove the ash and find a floor of chavara plaster at 8.14. It originally sloped up onto Wall II, but has been in most places cut by the footing trench for a later rebuilding. It runs under Wall IV and slightly into 21:9. The chavara was not found everywhere. In most places the 8.14 level is a well packed sandy clayey floor. The plaster is at 8.19. In most of the room it is cut at the N. side of Wall IV. In the east, however, it rises in a line parallel with Wall II.
