Tomb 26

20-4-39Tomb 26 is cut into the main rock ledge of lot 236. It is the second tomb west of tomb 7. It runs under the eastern part of trench 21. The dromos is rectangular, 1.35 x 1.30, 1.60 below the present surface of the ground by the door. The floor of the dromos slopes very slightly toward the door. There is an arhosaki 0.55 x 0.55, 0.35 high, with a door, round, 0.20 in diam, in the west wall, 0.20 above the dromos floor, 0.45 from the tomb door. The dromos is very carefully cut. The door, 1.04 in width, 0.80 high, is cut into the straight-cut end of the dromos. Within the door there is an almost sheer drop of 1.15 to the floor of the tomb. The chamber is approximately oval in shape, 4.20 x 3.35, 2.20 high The greatest length is in the axis of the dromos. Tomb 26 was completely plundered, but we found numerous fragments of pottery in it. This may be the Br. Mus. tomb # 50. The octopus sherds ^Sh547/ seem to belong to Br. Mus. C (Ex. Cypr. p. 74, fig. 128)
