TOMB 6 -(from p. 39)
Continue opening tomb 6. Theoutlines of the chamber areestablished. The dromos is onthe N. Remove the red earth andfallen stone, and begin to findskeletal and ceramic remains.A great heap of bones, includingtwo skulls, is found on the east. One of these skulls is still hollow, beautifully preserved. A largepiece of fallen rock lies over it.Since it did not break the skullin falling, the conclusion issuggested that the tomb collapsedbefore the skull dried out.Fragments of a horizontal handledLHIII krater with birds are foundin all parts of the tomb at thishigh level.Photos Bam '39, 23-24, 25-27 at thislevel.Dig below this level, findingbed-rock at . Nothing isfound in-situ. It appears thatthe objects of the main level wereswept aside in preparation fora later burial, which nevertook place, perhaps becausethe tomb collapsed before itcould be made.Photo Bam '39. 29 of tomb cleared.
