We have opened a considerable area in this unit, though the S + W walls are still not found. After removing top-soil we found red earth at 50 cm. Some of the sherds from the red soil were taken with the top-soil, in cutting down to the wall tops.
We have dug below 0.50, and found a red level at 9.79 (S) = 10.02 (N), with much pottery showing through. The 10.10 level recorded on p. 151 represents the N. corner, where we cut below this level.
9-6-38 Finish clearing to the 9.92 = 10.12 level, gritty earth apparently just over the floor. Photos Bam V. 13 at 9.92 = 10.12 [margin left: * see basket W-B1-1,] Dig below and find a floor of firm brown earth with many white and green grits, at 10.21 in the north (7A). There is much pottery in situ on this floor. Frags. of the pithos try lie across the line of the wall separating 7A from 7B, showing that there was a door at this level.
