26-5-38TRENCH 15 (see p.99) In the north (really N-W) top-soil goes down on bed-rock. The rock contains several cuttings, some perhaps for walls, two post-holes, and a basins. It is cut straight at its south end, beyond which we find dark red earth. Two walls are isolated, running diagonally across the trench. Extend the trench to a total length of 11.50m. (to the S)
27-5-38Extend from the line of the rock south by another strip 2 meters wide on the west. Find rock along the west side too. The top-soil stops about 40 cm. down (plowed earth is 25 cm. of this), with dark red earth. Clear several intrusions.

In 15:1 + 2 we find very firm floors of white composition, but rather uneven and damaged. In 15:1 there was a little red earth over it, but in 15:2 top-soil went down onto the floor.
