nearly in situ.

7-5-38 Photos 268-270 of objects (floated) at 0.50 to 0.65 from top, with skeletal remains in-situ at 0.70 showing through below. Remove 16 pots and the higher bones.

9-5-38 Digging below we clear the 0.70 skeleton (III a). Skull III probably belonged to it. It lies over a grey layer with much decomposed rock. This layer is a wedge, high in the E, but not reaching the W. side. On the west we find a few fragments of bone on bed-rock, associated with a White Slip pot. Another in red earth by the W. side of the door may be of the same burial. Photos 271, 272 .

11-5-38 Dig below skeleton III a and find scattered bones in the grey earth going to bed-rock. They seem to belong to an earlier burial thrown aside. A few skull frags. are numbered IV. Photo (ruined) of these bones.
