28.5.37 TRENCH 2 from p. 69
Unit 27 South (now to be called Unit 28 ): Digging to the north, toward unit 27 proper, we find the earth cut a little short of the end of the composition floor, for a wall for unit 27. A few stones are found -- built into them is a large fragment of a L.H.III pyriform amphoriskos, and the cutting is clear. This wall, therefore, and the floor in unit 27, is later than the floor in unit 28 at 10.89 = 11.32
East of the line of the E wall of unit 26 the earth changes, to clayey grey with sand (A change to yellow was noted in the same place at the so-called 10.98 level (see p. 57 ), but the same sherds continue on down. This area also goes into unit 21 North (old E. of 26) at/ the outer N.E corner of the unit 26.
Dig below the 10.89 = 11.32 level, removing first the floor only, and then digging down through rather loose grey earth. Before doing this, however, dig out the bangab of the south wall (to unit 26). It is cut through the 10.89 = 11.32 floor, possibly also through the (to p. 75)
[margin left: N.B. There was no real bangab to the S. wall, and it is now clear that the plaster floor went clear to it (28.3.38)]
