stones and sherds go on down. This is probably a fall in tumble, though the earth is not clayey. Dig below 11.11 = 11.47 in the western part, through the same loose brown earth.

Unit 11 A: In the line of the crook in the S. side of unit 10, and parallel to the present edge of the trench, runs a line of grey-brown earth, probably representing a wall. This stops with sandy brown earth.

At Unit 28 Unit 27, South area: Dig the east part (below the line of the E. wall of unit 26), and find the same level continuing, though with different earth. There is a firm clayey level, grey, with limestone grits. There are a great many sherds in the earth below the so-called 10.98 level and lying on the 11.32=11.50 floor. Many more are seen in the 11.32=11.50 floor, so it is probably an accumulation over an earlier floor. To my surprise most of the sherds are of white slip ware. The 10.98" level is at 11.42 at the E of the trench, the 10.89/11.32 at 11.50
