it is filled with red-brown earth with sand.

Dig below 10.67 = 10.90, through grey sandy accumulation, and find a very firm floor of trodden sandy earth, in part yellowish (where close to bed-rock), elsewhere grey and whitish. The post support in the center of the room rested on the 10.67 = 10.90 floor. The floor is at 10.70 = 10.94

Weathering around circumference shows post was roughly oval, 0.155 x 0.165 m. See letter from V.G. (J.F.D. VIII, p. 122 f.) Photo Bam. V. G. 2 see p. 66

Unit 26 E. and 21: Having cleaned the pit we dig below 11.09 = 11.15 in the door and in unit 21 to where the yellow earth begins (see rough plan, p. 48). At 11.21 = 11.24 we find a layer of firm red earth with limestone grits. This is the same as the level in old unit 21. The wall between units 26 & 17 stopped at the 11.09 = 11.15 level. Running around the outer N-E corner of unit 17 is a patch of looser earth with much white matter - crushed limestone.

Following the 11.21 = 11.24 level east in unit 21, we find a distinct change of (to p. 55)
