Dig out the S-E pit (intr. #4) Photo Bam 121 of pit before opening

To a depth of 0.20 this was filled with earth, dug out previously. At 0.20 it is sealed with a layer of decomposed limestone, 0.06 to 0.08 thick. Below this is brown earth, and then, at 0.40 a layer 0.06 deep, of pure red clay, looking almost like virgin soil. Below this and to 0.85 is red-brown earth, rather gritty, with sherds and fragments of composition floor. At 85 cm. the earth becomes very black, with many stones.
