TRENCH 2 from p. 165

North extension of unit 25: Dig below 9.98 = 10.66, through red-brown tumble, with some stones but little brick. There is no differentiation yet visible between the different parts of unit 25 & its extension. There is a good deal of sandy yellow earth in this area, but it seems to be tumble without form. Many fragments of pithoi appear. Clear to a level with some grey sand at 10.35 = 10.77. This is fairly consistent but doesn't look like a made level. A large stone basin appears in the side of the trench, resting on the level very faint intermediate level.

Unit 10: Remove the white earth at 10.42 = 10.55, and find a packed floor of sandy brown earth at with a little lime, at 10.46 = 10.61. Christo (foreman) suggests that the white of the 10.42 = 10.55 floor is nearly pure κούννος, such as is common on roofs today; so this rather uneven level may have been fallen roof matter.
