Notes 24.5.37 Unit 17: The E. wall rests on the 10.94=11.08 level, but the masonry is not solid: in places there are stones, but in others there are not. The N wall rests in the W. on rock, in the east on this same level. Two stones (E) of the south wall rest on this same level, but the door filling goes to 10.91=11.05. West of the door it seems to rest on rock, and certainly does in places.

North extensions of units 25 E + 25 W: Find apparently undisturbed brown earth at 9.71 (at the E side of tr. 10) = 10.37 (in the line of the E wall of unit 20), and isolate + clear 5 intrusions + parts of intrusions

North extension: Dig below 9.51=10.37, an through brown earth with considerable grit and vegetable matter, and find a good level of sandy redbrown earth, relatively free of grit, at 9.61=10.46. This continues without a break to the 9.56=9.57 floor of trench 10 (a little earth was left in the latter.) This goes to the ledge of the wall in tr. 10, and the pot set with plaster belongs to the same level. No walls appear at this level in tr. 2, so it must have been out of doors. [See p. 107)
Unit 17: Dig below 10.95 = 11.11 in the S-E corner. This is a hard layer covering a loose stony fill, composed of masses of stones 10 to 20 cm. sq., and loose red earth. This fill goes to bedrock, which is very uneven here, at 11.53. The wall, (E S) rests on the 10.94=11.08 level. At
