Unit 20: Digging below 10.38-10.58 find a floor at 10.45 = 10.70 Photo Bam 105 of unit 20, partly cleared to 10.45=10.70 showing tumble at south. [inserted: see] p. 148 Start removing the tumble and clearing the 10.45 = 10.70 floor.

Unit 12: Finish digging out pit #2. It goes with the same sandy fill to

Pit #3: A fill of decomposed sandstone & earth goes down. At 0.25 from the surface we start finding a pithos, broken, but in situ, lying on its side. In the middle is a large stone slab, doubtless its cover. Just inside the pithos, at the top we found typical brick wall tumble (red earth with red & grey brick fragments), the only place in the pit. At the time of the destruction the cutting was filled with the sandstone fill, so the only place the building tumble could enter was in the pithos. The pit continues below the pithos to .
