Continue working in the extensions N. + E., cleaning the undisturbed earth in the attempt to isolate intrusions, and above all to distinguish the LCIII earth from the Iron-Age earth which we expect behind the circuitwall.

Unit 15: Dig below the 10.64=10.71 floor, finding a floor of bed-rock at 10.68=10.72. The pithos is sunk from the rock floor, its cutting being sealed with pulverized rock, carefully filled to the same level as the rock floor. The 10.64= 10.71 floor, of red earth, covered the pithos cutting without a break. The pithos was used in both periods. Its top is at 10.70

By the east wall find part of a hemispherical pit, [gap] in diameter and 11.24 ^(absolute)dep, lined with chavara [gap] thick. This pit was cut through by another pit sunk next to the wall to accomodate the jug, p. 88 # 1. Both of these pits were sunk from the 10.64 = 10.71 floor rock (to p. 97)
