Unit 8: The West and central parts mentioned on p. 61 are undisturbed. Only the east, with a great deal of white matter (the same strosis at 10.20 = 10.45 in units 10 + 13) is disturbed. The white matter seems to come from destroying a thick floor in unit 8, visible below the present level, in the cutting (noted on p. 61 as a probable continuation of the disturbed area). The burnt brick and ash in the S-W is a fireplace and its tumble (see p. 64) Photo Bam 59 of fireplace in unit 8 at 10.11 = 10.23 12.4.37 See p. 64

Unit 15: Find a sandy level of lighter red-brown earth with gravel at 10.57 = 10.58. A good many pieces of brick rest on this level. The pottery goes on down.

Unit 16: Dig below 9.60 = 9.86, through brown earth, and find another brown level at 9.76 = 10.19. This is not a floor and we are not digging building tumble.

Unit 17: clear to a level in red-brown earth, at 10.45 = 10.61. Some stones go through this, so it is not a floor. Much fallen stone. (to p. 67)
