not a door7.4.37cont'd, from p. 53 TRENCH 2 changes to those in unit 14, the burnt tumble clarifying at 9.79 = 9.92 in unit 3, at 10.02=10.19 in unit 12, and at 10.27=10.41 in unit 15. Unit 5: Finish clearing the 9.35= 9.47 floor, and clear the south doors to the same level. It is a good solid floor, of chavara, lime, and clay, patches of each. There is a considerable amount of ash on it, and near the center a group of stones must have been a fireplace. The rectangular enclosure of stone and sun-dried brick, first noticed at 8.95=9.05 goes to this floor. In front of it is a fine big saddle quern! There are doors W to unit 6, N. to unit 1, E to unit 9, and two South, to unit 7. The east of these runs nearly level, sloping up on to the level of crushed stone. The west door is stepped up. In the door itself the crushed stone floor of unit 7 rests on small stones, 0.15 above the 9.35=9.47 floor of unit 5; (c. 58 cm.) 0.55 south it steps up again, and slopes rapidly up to unit 7, with a last step 1.25 from unit 5 Photos Bam 51-56 of unit 5. (see p. 62) Unit 8: Dig below the 9.92-10.08 level, of dark earth, with a great deal of ash. (to p. 61)
