Unit 1: Cutting through the red clay we find a layer of red clay with yellowish patches and a good many stones. The wall to unit 4 rests on bedrock the first from the inner west wall of unit 1, but from there on it rests on the 9.62 = 9.75 floor.
Unit 9: Dig below the 9.40 = 9.94. The chavara lies on 4-5 cm. of decomposed sandstone.
Unit 1: There has been some confusion in the clearing of the floor, but it is now clear. The original floor is of chavara with patches of red clay with grey ash. In the west it ends at 9.77 at the inner wall, sloping up on it. In the south it slopes up on the wall to units 5 + 9, and the chavara of the floor is continuous with the chavara facing of the wall. The chavara is replaced by bed-rock in the N-W corner. The wall to unit 4 rests on the 9.77 = 9.80 floor: on the rock at the west, ending with the mud + chavara of this floor
