1-4.37TRENCH 2 (from. p. 37) (Unit 13) - Lower ext. of unit 10 - joining and including trench 3:A. Black earth goes to 10.20 = 10.40, a mixed layer of red & yellow clay, ash, and grit. This is the same as 0.70 in trench 3:A. This may be disturbed earth, but we keep the sherds separate.

Unit 3: Clear to a level of clay, stone, and ash, including several fallen bricks of gritty yellow-grey, and numerous stones, at 9.57 = 9.68. & There were two bad intrusions in this unit, distinct from this earth, but even so it is not certain that this layer is undisturbed.

5-4-37Unit 1: Finish clearing the 9.75 = 9.78 floor. It is of spáxos in places, but mostly of mud containing lime and ash. It is quite firm and solid. There is a patch of ash near the center of the room. It is highest in the center (9.72); at the west it is 9.75, at the east 9.78. The Cut throungh the 9.72 = 9.78 floor to the white xapapa floor which lies just beneath it. The 9.72 = 9.78 floor is a remaking of the 9.77 = 9.78 floor. (to p. 49)
