TRENCH 2 31.3.37 from p. 35 | at the north runs up on to the wall to unit 1. It is uncertain whether or not this χαβάρα floor covered the entire floor, but this it probably did not, as the red clay is not found generally in the room. Photo Bam 9-10 44-45 of unit 1 at 9.62 = 9.75, showing pots in situ, (see p. 38)

Photo Bam 46 of unit 9 at 9.79 = 10.04, as finally cleaned

1-4.37 Unit 9: Dig down, finding χαβάρα floor nearly everywhere. Over it lies a layer 3-4 cm. thick, apparently of decomposed sandstone, and over this a similar layer with some carbonization, noted above. This χαβάρα connected with the patch at 10.01 in the N-E corner of the room. The χαβάρα noted above in the N-W corner was not in situ.

Unit 1: We removed the objects at 9.62 = 9.75 yesterday. Today we remove the earth over the actual floor- at 9.72 = 9.78. The 9.62 = 9.75 level was in places this floor, in others an earth accumulation over it. This floor stops at the inner wall at the west.
