TRENCH 4 (from p. 31)
30.3.37 these levels will meet and that "units 10+11" are one and the same, probably out of doors
Photos Bam \39+\40 of unit 12 at 10.37.
31.3.37 Photo Bam 42-43 of unit 9 at 10.00 = 10.02, with finds in situ. Unit 9 at 10.00 = 10.02 floor, see plan, p. 40 for position of finds. p. 30, # 5 (plan, # 4) is the neck of a pithos, broken off at the base and set firmly on the floor, apparently to contain something. There are many fallen stones among the pots, particularly by the tub.
1-4-37 Extend the trench to the east, by a section 2 meters wide to the end of the original trench, and by 4x2 meters N. of it. Don't separate the plowed top-soil from the unplowed. Find a layer of brown earth at 9.82 = 10.14 in the S-E, and 10.14 = 10.22 in the N. E. extension. These are certainly the same. Isolate and clear one intrusion in each section.
