9-3-37cont'd. TRENCH 4 floor, but is later than the χavára floor. Figurine, see p. 110 Clear in Unit 4, removing the copious fallen stones carefully, but finding the earth badly disturbed, both by the shock of the fall and by surface intrusions. Isolate a piece of wall (am-bn on p. 126)
In unit 3 begin to find a floor of red sandy earth. Extend the trench so as to clear the whole floor to gether. Here too there is a big modern intrusion, taking a piece out of the wall between units 2 + 3 and the east wall of unit 3.
These intrusions look to me like places where the villagers have dug in the hope of finding tombs.
Find a mortar on the 9.22=9.40 floor in unit 2: its top was flush with the 9:10 = 9:38 floor.
The χavára so slopes up on the walls as to indicate that it covered them. (To p. 133
