ERIMI TOMB
EXCAVATED ON BEHALF OF ANTIQUITIES DEPT. IN COLL- ABORATION WITH P. DIKAIOS
21-3-1938
The tomb is situated at the S-W corner of a plateau in Hadjisotiriou's lot in the locality Panaghia, just to the east of the road leading out of Erimi on the north, and a few yards to the east of the last ruins of a chapel (?) The edges of the plateau are covered with plundered tombs, which seem to have been cut down for χαβάρα. This tomb had obviously been plundered on one or more occasions. The roof of the chamber was gone, many loose stones were to be seen in it, and many sherds, mostly of L.C. III carinated bowls, were to be seen in the earth thrown out of the tomb. In spite of the plundered state of the tomb the excavation was undertaken in the hope that part would have escaped the riflers, in the hope of seeing the shape of the dromos and chamber, (over)
