June 11cont'd Wall in VI A seems to be of two periods, the upper inserted: 0.30 to 0.50 of small stones in earth, the lower part of better stones in mortar.
Wall in VI B changes at 1.20 (floor level) from

rough work of larger small stones to more even work of small stones. Dug on B side to 1.80

filling packed hard with loose stone. In cutting there, one unidentified coarse ware and one geometric sherd with, dark brown bands ca. 1 cm. wide (each). The stone, which does not seem to be local, is worn smooth on the top, the sloping east side, and the corners.

June 12, 1934TRENCH VI VI Ξ On plan, p. 33, depth of following parts: a: 0.85, b: 1.03, c: 1.40, d: 1.30, bed-rock 1.75 e = wall (?) of square-cut stones, flush with, or to 10 cm. above, bed-rock. Rock in Ξ covered with plaster, and cut with two water runs leading to cistern Drains in Ξ 20-30 cm. wide, 0.05-0.20 deep. Simply hollowed out of bed-rock.
Wall at Ξ O rests on bed-rock at point α (1.60 below surface), and runs, with its bottom at this level, over the rocky fill over the cistern. From α to β the bed-rock is cut down ca. 0.30, and δ is ca. 0.10 lower still, acting as intermediary. ε slopes gradually but not too evenly uphill to the west, the total variation of height being about 0.40.
The wall is 1.30 from top to bed-rockinserted: (at α), and the top is 0.30 from the surface, hence \struck through: [illegible]\ point α is 1.60 from the surface.
From the drain channel at the entrance to the cistern to the surface is 1.85.
On O side wall also 1.30, face smoothed with plaster which must have held fresco, of which many fragments were found in VI O-Π-P.
Rests on thin layer inserted: (ca. 5 cm.) of small levelling stones upon bed-rock. Bed-rock cut down straight to a floor 0.60 below wall. Relatively smooth to wall at Σ, save for cistern(?) at Π.
